How to initiate an SEO Project?

Follow These Steps to Initiate an SEO Project

  1. Analyze the core technology of website.

A website can be built using Client Side Technologies or with the help of Server Side Programming Languages.

SEO procedure is different for different technologies.

You can check all technologies behind a website using this tool:

www.builtwith.com

CASE 1

If a website is developed using Basic HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT (Including Bootstrap and custom responsive CSS and Javascript), you can start with customizing code of individual pages.

Every page will have a separate Page Title and Meta Description. You can customize them accordingly. ( i.e, as per the content).

You can include Schema.org markup as well according to the type of post content.

You can also include Social Media Optimization – SMO tags:

OG: Title, Og: Description, Og: Image etc. and Twitter Card Tags.

CASE 2 – PHP Web Applications

If a website is developed using PHP or any other server side coding script.

You have to use the concept of Master Pages.

In PHP A page is divided into three or four parts:

  • Header
  • Content
  • Sidebar
  • Footer

How to initiate an SEO Project?

This is done because same header and footer code is written again and again in all the pages of any website.

Example: If a website has 6 pages then the same header code with TITLE TAG, META TAGS, CSS LINKS, JS LINKS and NAVIGATION MENU CODE will be written again and again in all the pages, also the same static footer Information is written repetitively. This can be avoided by using website structure as follows:

Here every page contains a code that includes header code and footer code in it.

Dynamic page titles and Meta Tags are used as per the content of code.

This can be done by connecting your application to a database.

Create a Database Table which contains ID of your page, SEO Title, SEO Description and URL of page.

Whenever a page browsed by a user its ID and URL are changed and hence respective SEO Title and SEO Description are fetched and placed inside Header.php file code.

There can be two types of pages in these websites:

  • Static Pages – Content is written manually in the code.
  • Dynamic Pages – Content is fetched dynamically from a database or a data source.

Dynamic pages are virtually created when ID of Posts change in URL. These pages are not present in our website folder as static pages are present in our website root folder.

Dynamic Pages are called when URLs are opened by visitors.

These URLs are hyperlinked using our Website Navigation Menu.

CASE 3 – ASP.net Web Applications

If a website is developed using C# – ASP.NET Framework, (Web forms) you will get Master Pages and dynamically changing page titles.

In Visual Studio Tool -2013 at the time of creation of a project you can select an empty website or a Asp.net Web Application which comes with inbuilt Pages and a Site Master for Desktop and Mobile respectively. It has Bootstrap library included for responsive websites.

Pretty URL structure is already there and you will get dynamic SEO Title as per page name.

If you want to further customize SEO Title and SEO description you can connect your application with a database and fetch SEO Tags dynamically as explained above for PHP.

This is a screenshot of dashboard for managing a post in an application built using ASP.Net framework and C#:

Here users can manage SEO tags for all posts separately.

How to initiate an SEO Project? How to initiate an SEO Project?

CASE 4 – CMS TOOLS

If your website is developed using a CMS tool Like WordPress, Magento, Joomla, Drupal, Blogger etc.

In these CMS tools there are many modules and plugins that can be added to get SEO functionality ready.

For WordPress:

You can install: Yoast SEO or All in One SEO pack Plugin.

For Magento:

Magento has an inbuilt basic SEO management module.

If you are not using a SEO plugin or module then also you will have dynamic SEO titles and Description in these CMS tools.

Blogger websites have Schema.org markup for Type: Blog – posting already included in its code. They have Open Graph Meta Tags inbuilt as well. Content in these SEO, SMO and Shema.org markup tags is changed dynamically.

For other CMS tools, SEO Plugins will let you include SMO and Schma.org functionally to your website.

These are some cases to analyze conditions and initiate an SEO project.

What is Macro Environment ?

Reference – Slideshare

Every business has an aim of improving its performance by fundamental and creative strategies. There are certain factors affecting the decision making capabilities of an organization and  these factors  can not be controlled.

You can refer to the slides given above and the points mentioned in those slides along-with some examples to understand Macro Environment in depth.

  • 2. MACRO ENVIRONMENT • The major external and uncontrollable factors that influence an organization’s decision making, and affect its performance and strategies. These factors include the economic factors; demographics; legal, political, and social conditions; technological changes; and natural forces. • Specific examples of macro environment influences include competitors, changes in interest rates, changes in cultural tastes, disastrous weather, or government regulations.
  • 3. FORCES IN COMPANY’S MACRO ENVIRONMENT
  • 4. DEMOGRAPHIC ENVIRONMENT • Demography is the study of human populations in term of sizes, density, location, age, gender, race, occupation, and other statistics. The demographic environment is a major interest to marketers because it involves people, and people make up markets.
  • 5. ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT • The economic environment consist of factors affecting consumers purchasing power and spending patterns both across and within their world markets.
  • 6. NATURAL ENVIRONMENT •The natural environment involves the natural resources that are needed as inputs by marketers or that are affected by marketing activities.
  • 7. TECHNOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT • The technological environment is perhaps the most dramatic force now shaping our destiny. Forces that create new technologies, create new product and market opportunities.
  • 8. POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT • The political environment consist of laws, government agencies, and pressure groups that influence and limit various organizations and individuals in the given society.
  • 9. CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT • The cultural environment is made up of institutions and other forces that affect a society’s basic values, perceptions, preferences, and behaviors.
  • 10. CASE STUDY ON RELIANCE INDUSTRIES • Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is an Indian conglomerate holding company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The company operates in five major segments: exploration and production, refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail and telecommunications. • The group is present in many business sectors across India including petrochemicals, construction, communications, energy, health care, science and technology, natural resources, retail, textiles, and logistics. • RIL is the second-largest publicly traded company in India by market capitalization and is the second largest company in India by revenue after the state-run Indian Oil Corporation. The company is ranked No. 99 on the Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s biggest corporations, as of 2013.RIL contributes approximately 14% of India’s total exports.
  • 11. Is Mukesh Ambani falling out with the Narendra Modi government? Mukesh and Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) have been at the receiving end of a couple of “strong” government decisions — the biggest one being to keep gas price hike in abeyance. UPA-II had set April 1 as the date for the hike, but left it to the next government to take a final decision later. “It was expected that no sooner does Narendra Modi come to power, the hike would be announced. But that has not happened, giving the first indication that all was not well between Mukesh and the government,” said a source in the BJP. Sources also speculate that the government may be buying time before helping RIL. An e-mail sent to RIL late evening did not elicit any response. “It is too short a notice,” said the spokesperson. That has not happened in the first 45 days of Modi’s rule. This is being read as proof of a “rift between RIL and the Modi government”. That Reliance decided to hit back by deferring investments in fresh fields like the R-cluster in KG-D6 Block is also being taken as proof of a “fall from grace’ for RIL and Mukesh Ambani. A second reason, cited by sources in the BJP, for the alleged fallout between Mukesh and the government is linked to the CAG reports on 2G that indicated that RIL had rigged conditions in its favour to bag the 4G contract, and which it used to launder money. There is an AAP angle to this allegation, too. Supreme Court lawyer and AAP member Prashant Bhushan has filed a petition for the cancellation of RIL’s 4G deal. Coming in handy for Bhushan was the Modi government’s decision to bring back black money stashed away abroad in six months, for which the government set up a special investigation team (SIT).
  • 12. The AAP troubleshooter forwarded a loaded letter to SIT on Black Money, alleging that Mukesh Ambani was a common money launderer, who used the 4G contract route to turn black money to white. “Reliance is laundering its ill-gotten profits from KG Basin through Singapore and depositing the same into accounts of Mr. Mukesh Ambani,” Bhushan wrote in his letter to ML Meena, member secretary, SIT on Black Money. “There have been two detailed CAG reports that says RIL is involved in inflation of capital expenditure, over-invoicing and siphoning of money from the KG Basin D6 Block. There is clear indication that such amounts are being laundered and funneled back into Reliance companies,” he said. The latest proof that RIL and the Modi government are not on the same page and that Modi will not go out of his way to smoothen things out for RIL is the $579million fine the government has slapped on RIL for continuous shortfall in KG Basin gas production. Gas price hike deferment led RIL and its other partners in KG-D6 basin Niko Resources and British Petroleum to file arbitration against the government, which many considered as an arm-twisting exercise. Nonetheless, the new government has made it amply clear over the last two months through various announcements that it is not in favour of a sharp rise in gas price.. The oil ministry also slapped an additional penalty of $579 million for natural gas production shortfall from KG-D6 block for the financial year 2013- 14. The penalty in the form of disallowing costs incurred on the field is for missing the target in 2013-14. With this, the total costs disallowed to RIL will increase to $2.375 billion. Another recent document which was passed by oil ministry to the cabinet committee also indicated that RIL should not be allowed new gas price for KG-D6 produce until it is able to meet the shortfall in gas output over the last four years.

How to create a child theme in WordPress?

A WordPress child theme is a part of main WordPress theme which inherits the property of its parent theme and ads some functionality and style of its own to the main theme.

Why is Child Theme Important?

Child theme is very important when theme customization are taken into account.  WordPress is an open-source website building tool.  Open-source tools can be customized to any extent as per requirement. If customized code is written in the theme files and the theme owner releases an update to the theme, all customization will be erased by the updated theme. To avoid the hassle of rewriting the code (example: theme functions) again and again we can take help of a Child Theme.

Advantages of Child Theme

Instead of creating a new theme from initial level you can simply use any theme and its functionality and modify it as per your requirement.

Updates will not be able remove your code.

In case if the code of child theme fails, there is always a working parent theme to serve clients.

Step by Step Child Theme Development

You will need two files in your child theme initially:

  1. Functions.php – To modify theme functions.
  2. Style.css – To modify or adapt parent theme styling.

Create a folder with above mentioned files.

Rename the folder as done in the image above:

As you can see clearly in image Twentyseventeen Child is written as “parenttheme-child”.

Rename the Folder with –child in the end.

Now in your Style.css file paste following code:

/*

 Theme Name: 2017 Child by Slidescope

 Theme URI: https:// slidescope.com

 Author: Ankit Srivastava

 Author URI: https:// slidescope.com/ankit

 Template: twentyseventeen

 Description: Child theme for Twenty Seventeen.

 Version: 0.1

 License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

 License URI: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html

 Tags:

 Text Domain: twentyseventeen-child

 */

You have to modify author name, url and website as per your records..

And in your Functions.php file place the following code:

<?php

 add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘theme_enqueue_styles’ );

 function theme_enqueue_styles() {

 wp_enqueue_style( ‘parent-style’, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’ );

 }

This code will inherit Parent Theme’s style.css styling.

Now you can create your own functions by editing the Child Theme’s Functions.php file from wordpress editor.

If you have any problems in setting up a child theme like this you can comment your problems below.

If you liked this post you can share it in your groups and social media.
